And, yes, in this busy month, more court updates….

(1)  Father Ronald Leger csv (Viatorian priest – Archdiocese of St. Boniface, Manitoba)

Here’s another article regarding thew two sentence for former Classical College teacher and Viatorian priest Father Ronald Leger:

09 February 2016:  2-year jail sentence for Winnipeg pastor who sexually abused children

How disappointing to see that the two years sentence was a  joint recommendation of th4e Crown and defence.

Two years.  For all the lives damaged, and all the years he ‘got away with it,’ all the while a wolf in sheep’s clothing.  Two years.  And he’s be out and about in what?  With “good” behavior, how many months.

Why would a Crown agree to a two year sentence?

Please keep the victims in your prayers.

(2)  Marcel Lalonde

I have no idea why, but the trial of former Cornwall Ontario teacher and thrice convicted child molester Marcel Lalonde has been rescheduled for December of this year (the trial was originally scheduled for June).  The decision to reschedule to December was made in December past.

12-15 December 2016:  10 am, TRIAL;  09 February 2016:  status check (on June trial) Cornwall, Ontario  courthouse (29 Second St. W., )

Just as a reminder to all of how inordinately long it seems takes for charges to work their way to trial in Ontario, these charges against Lalonde were laid February 2014.  After a preliminary hearing he was committed to stand trial 13 January 2015).

Please keep the complainant in your prayers.

(3)  Father Linus Bastien (Diocese of London, Ontario)

There is yet another court date set for Father Linus Bastien:

25 February 2016: 10 am,  application certiorari,  Windsor Superior Court of Justice (245 Windsor Avenue)

It looks as thought this may be the judge’s ruling regarding Bastien’s desperate attempts to avoid his March trial?

I urge those in the area who can do so to attend to find out what is happening.

As these apparent attempts to elude justice continue please keep the complainants in your prayers.

(4)  Father Robert Couture

Those in Windsor, Ontario and area, please mark your calendars.  A sentencing hearing  for Father Robert Couture is set for:

28 July 2016: 10 am,  sentencing hearing, Windsor Superior Court of Justice (245 Windsor Avenue), Windsor, Ontario

Note that this may just be a day of arguments before the judge regarding  such things as whether or not he should receive a conditional sentence vs jail time, and/or if he considered is likely to re-offend.  He may or may not be sentenced on this date.  Some judges will sentence on the same day, and others will set another date for sentencing:  I suppose it all depends on the arguments presented by both sides?  But, there will be arguments regarding whether or not he shoudl go to jail and so on.  There will probably be letters and so on from supporters, and perhaps even supporters testifying on his behalf,

(5)  Father John Sullivan (Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario)

I am awaiting a call back with his next court date.  Please keep the many victims in your prayers.

Ash Wednesday today.  the first day of Lent.

Enough for now,

Sylvia
